Given his talent for thinking outside of the box, it’s no surprise that Bahram was able to turn a few pieces of unwanted
lumber into a green furniture line.
Bahram has
been designing furniture for over 25 years, and has experimented with many different building technique and materials. In
2004 he started designing and building exclusively using recycled/waste
construction lumber. This type of
lumber is a difficult material to work with, but in his view, these were once trees—usable pieces that were being too easily discarded.
Modern Rust started with a three-foot bench, and soon other pieces followed.
In addition to creating
Modern Rust, Bahram is the founder of Living/Storage/Quarters and holds 2 pending patents for electric propulsion systems.
